# U-Lens Privacy Policy

U-Lens ("we", "our", or "the app") is a GS1 barcode parsing and debugging tool. This policy describes how the app handles information when you use it.

## Summary

- **Camera:** Used only to scan barcodes. All image processing happens on your device; no images or video are sent to our servers.
- **Your data:** Scanned codes and preview images are stored only on your device.
- **No account:** The app does not require sign-in or collect personal account data.
- **Third-party services:** The app uses Google Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting only (no analytics or usage tracking).

## 1. Camera

U-Lens requests **camera permission** to scan GS1 barcodes (e.g. Data Matrix, Code 128, QR codes).

- Camera access is used only while you use the scanning screen.
- **All processing is done on your device.** Frames are used for barcode detection and optional local preview images; nothing is streamed or uploaded to us or any server for processing.
- You can revoke camera access at any time in your device settings; the rest of the app (e.g. history) will still work for previously scanned codes.

## 2. Data Stored on Your Device

The app stores the following **only on your device** (in the app's private storage):

- **Scanned barcode data:** Raw and standardized GS1 strings, parse results, validity, and related metadata.
- **Preview images:** Small thumbnails of scanned codes (used for history and debugging).
- **Scan history:** Timestamps and any search or sort preferences tied to the app.

This data is not uploaded to our servers. It may be included in your device's normal backups (e.g. Android backup) if you have backup enabled; see your device and Google account settings for backup and restore behavior.

## 3. Third-Party Services (Google / Firebase)

The app uses **Google Firebase Crashlytics** for crash reporting only:

- **Crashlytics** sends crash reports and stack traces to Google so we can fix bugs. These reports may include device model, OS version, and app state at the time of the crash; they do not include your barcode content or scan history.
- The app does **not** use Firebase Analytics or any other usage/analytics tracking.

Data sent to Firebase is governed by [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) and [Firebase's terms](https://firebase.google.com/terms).

## 4. Opening URLs From Scanned Codes

If you scan a barcode that contains a URL (e.g. a QR code with a link), you may choose to open it in your browser. Opening the link is your choice and subject to that website's privacy policy; we do not control or track those sites.

## 5. No Sale of Data

We do not sell your personal data or scan history. Scanned codes and images stay on your device except as described above (e.g. crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics).

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
